I am so sorry Bonnie. Tender is the word.
It’s a loss for all of the poets that ever had a comment from or an exchange with Paul. He was a very, very, fine writer who was never afraid to just play (and even if he was he did it anyway), and, that great rarity, an attentive and perceptive reader.
